Welcome to the Coastal Calligraphers Guild! We're a newly formed Florida Not-For-Profit Corporation that started in September of 2001. Our home base is Sarasota, Florida and our members come from many areas along the Gulf Coast. We're composed of beginners through professionals in calligraphy and the related arts. Our purpose is to promote the art of calligraphy and related arts for all persons who share the love of them, and to offer educational programs for the immediate and surrounding communities.

Membership
Our membership is open to all interested persons.

Membership benefits include the following:

  • monthly meetings
  • mini-workshops
  • reduced fees for extended workshops
  • scholarships for classes and workshops for all members and another exclusively for full time student members
  • newsletter
  • opportunities to exhibit in the immediate and surrounding communities
  • opportunities to be a part of educating the immediate and surrounding communities through education for all levels of students
  • opportunities to interact and socialize with persons sharing a common purpose.

Our membership year begins July 1 and ends June 30 and we meet on the first Sunday of each month from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in Sarasota or a designated location. General Meetings are held in February, June, and October and are followed by a mini-workshop. Annual dues are as follows:

Full Membership ($25) - entitles one to a membership card, the newsletter, general meeting attendance and workshop discounts.

Associate Membership ($10) - entitles one to the newsletter and general meetings.

Student Membership ($10) - entitles a full-time student, grades five through college, to the newsletter and general meetings.

Supporting Membership ( $40) - entitles one to full membership status and recognition in the newsletter.

Business Membership ($50) - entitles the business to full membership status and a business card newsletter ad.

Mini-workshops will be offered free of charge at the general meetings which will be held on the first Sundays in February, June, and October.

Extended workshops (three hours or more, one or two days) will be offered for a fee usually at times other than the general meeting dates and sometimes at other area locations. They will be announced in the newsletter, at general meetings, on the Florida calligraphers web site, and/or by post card.

All members are encouraged to complete our application form indicating their level of calligraphic expertise, the alphabet styles they have studied, their area of calligraphic expertise, and their willingness to teach calligraphy and/or the related arts/crafts. They are also encouraged to share the duties of officer or committee chairperson/member to further promote the guild.
